Tip #7: Improving the quality of online courses using course builder

Hello everyone!

We're back with another "Tips and Tricks" article. In today's post, we will focus on TrainerCentral's course builder and how to use it effectively to improve the quality of your online courses.

What is a course builder?
A course builder is a tool that helps you add content to your online course and also helps in customizing your course curriculum. Using TrainerCentral's course builder, you can add media-rich content and bundle them as needed.

Tips for creating an effective course
Uploading and bundling content. You can upload various types of course content directly from your computer, or easily select the content from your Zoho Workdrive folder. The course builder supports adding materials in multiple formats, including audio, video, images, PDFs, and spreadsheets.

In addition to uploading the native content, you can also embed third-party video links such as YouTube as part of your course. Once the content is uploaded, you can categorize and bundle them as needed.

Add engaging content. To engage learners and get their undivided attention, you can upload a mix of engaging content. The content should be crisp, sequential, and simple. For example, if you're going to teach about a tool, you can start by addressing the needs of the tool, followed by a few product walkthrough videos and completing the chapter by showcasing a real case study.

Set completion parameters. To establish sequential learning, you can leverage the course compliance tools and set mandatory parameters for learners to access the next content. This validation step will mitigate binge watching or skipping content during their course period. You can set rules, such as watching up to 90% of the current video to access the next video. Likewise, you can create custom rules.

Add live classes. Live classes can be included as a part of the course curriculum. Let's say you upload four pre-recorded videos about basic programming, followed by a live session in which you explain concepts and clearing doubts in real time. Also, using course compliance, you can restrict the live session for learners who have watched the four videos in their entirety.

Include tests and handouts. Tests are an important aspect in the course builder module. It acts as a validation tool that will accredit learners as they complete their courses. You can gauge learners' proficiency by adding tests at the end of each chapter so that your learners are proficient before moving to the next chapter.
