The TrainerCentral-Learner desktop app for macOS provides a secure learning environment for accessing courses, live sessions, and assessments. Depending on your academy's settings, you may be required to use the desktop app instead of a web browser to access your learning content.
This article explains how to install the TrainerCentral desktop app, sign in to your academy, and navigate the app.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
A Mac running a supported version of macOS
A TrainerCentral learner account
The academy URL provided by your trainer or administrator
Note: If you don't have a learner account, you'll need to sign up through your academy's website before signing in to the desktop app.Open the App Store on your Mac and search for TrainerCentral - Learner.
Click Get and install the application.
Launch the TrainerCentral-Learner app from Launchpad or the Applications folder.
When you open the app for the first time:
Enter your academy URL, course link, or session link and click Go to Academy.
On the academy page, click Log in.
Enter your learner credentials and sign in.
Note: Clicking Sign Up opens your academy's sign-up page in your default web browser.
The TrainerCentral desktop app includes security features to help protect your learning content and maintain the integrity of assessments.
App-level restrictions
The following actions are restricted while using the desktop app:
Taking screenshots
Recording the screen
Copying content
Cutting content
Assessment-level restrictions
The following restrictions apply only while you're taking an assessment:
Pasting content is disabled after the assessment begins.
Once an assessment starts, the app switches to full-screen mode.
You can't switch to another application until the assessment is completed.
Note: Paste functionality is automatically restored once the assessment ends.
The macOS desktop app supports only a single display during assessments.
If an external monitor or additional display is detected while taking a test, the app displays a message asking you to disconnect the external display before continuing.
Note: Multiple displays are not permitted during assessments to help maintain a secure testing environment.
After signing in, you can access the following sections from the left navigation menu.
Explore
Browse all the courses and live sessions available in your academy.
Enrollments
View the courses and live sessions you're currently enrolled in and continue learning from where you left off.
Rewards
View the rewards you've earned, if your academy has enabled the Rewards feature.
Payments
Access your subscriptions and transaction history.
App Settings
Use App Settings to access additional options, including:

Switch Academy
If you're enrolled in multiple academies, use Switch Academy to move between them without reinstalling the app.
I can't sign in
Verify that you're using the correct academy URL.
Make sure you're signing in with the learner account associated with that academy.
Contact your trainer or academy administrator if you continue to experience issues.
The app asks me to use a single display
If the app detects an external monitor or additional display while you're taking an assessment:
Disconnect the external monitor or display.
Return to the TrainerCentral desktop app.
Continue your assessment.
The assessment remains unavailable until all external displays are disconnected.
I can't take screenshots or copy content
This is expected behavior. Security restrictions are enabled during assessments to protect the integrity of the test.
