Access TrainerCentral courses and tests using the Windows desktop app

The TrainerCentral-Learner desktop app for Windows provides a secure learning environment for accessing courses, live sessions, and assessments. Depending on your academy's settings, you may be required to use the desktop app instead of a web browser to access your learning content.

This article explains how to install the TrainerCentral desktop app, sign in to your academy, and navigate the app.

Before you begin

Make sure you have:

  • A Windows computer running a supported version of Windows

  • A TrainerCentral learner account

  • The academy URL provided by your trainer or administrator

NotesNote: If you don't have a learner account, you'll need to sign up through your academy's website before signing in to the desktop app.

  2. Click Continue.

Desktop app restrictions

The TrainerCentral desktop app includes security features to help protect your learning content and maintain the integrity of assessments.

App-level restrictions

The following actions are restricted throughout the desktop app:

  • Taking screenshots

  • Recording the screen

  • Copying content

  • Cutting content

Assessment-level restrictions

The following restrictions apply only while you're taking an assessment:

  • Pasting content is disabled after the assessment begins. It is automatically re-enabled when the assessment ends.

  • Leaving the assessment window during an assessment triggers a warning.

  • Switching to another app or exiting full-screen mode counts as one of the two allowed instances. If this limit is exceeded, the assessment is automatically submitted.

Once the assessment ends, paste functionality is restored automatically.

External display restrictions

The desktop app supports only a single display during assessments.

If an external monitor or additional display is detected while taking a test:

  1. Disconnect the external display.

  2. Return to the desktop app.

NotesNote: Multiple displays are not permitted during assessments to ensure a secure testing environment.

Troubleshooting

I can't sign in

  • Verify that you're using the correct academy URL.

  • Make sure you're signing in with the learner account associated with that academy.

  • Contact your trainer or academy administrator if you continue to experience issues.

The app asks me to use a single display

Disconnect any external monitor, projector, or additional display connected to your computer, then click Retry to resume your assessment.

I can't take screenshots or copy content

This is expected behavior. Security restrictions are enabled during assessments to protect the integrity of the test.
