Add multi-language support to course videos

Add multi-language support to course videos

TrainerCentral lets you offer the same course video in multiple audio languages, making it easier for learners to access content in their preferred language. Instead of creating separate lessons for each language, you can group translated versions of a video under a single lesson. Learners can then switch between the available languages directly from the course player.

You can upload translated videos or add existing videos from your library. TrainerCentral currently supports 120 audio languages.

Use case

If your training institute serves learners who speak different languages, you can group multiple language versions of the same lesson under a single course video. For example, you can provide a lesson in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Bengali, allowing learners to choose their preferred audio language while keeping your course organized.

Before you begin

  • Multi-language support is available only on the Professional plan.

  • This feature is available only for course videos.

  • The original video must already be added to the lesson before you can add translated versions.

  • You can add up to 10 translated versions to a single video.

Add multi-language support to a course video

  1. Navigate to Products and open the course.

  2. Go to the Curriculum tab.

  3. Add a new video lesson or open an existing one.

  4. Click the Settings tab.

  5. Enable Show Video Language.

The video is now ready to accept translated versions.

InfoThe video you enable multi-language support for becomes the original (parent) video.

Add a translated video

After enabling multi-language support, you can add translated versions of the original video.

  1. Click the Settings icon, then open the Video languages tab.

  2. Click Add language and select the language for the translated video.

  3. Choose one of the following options:

    • Upload video to upload a new translated video.

    • Pick from library to select an existing video from your library.

  1. Click Save.

Repeat these steps to add additional language versions.

NotesNote: Each translated video must be assigned a unique language. The same language cannot be added more than once for the same video.

Manage translated videos

All translated versions appear under the original video in the Available languages section. Select a language to switch between the available versions of the video.

Each language version retains its own video-specific settings. Changes to a video’s name, language, chapters, subtitles, or other settings cannot be made from the Available languages section.

Add more translated videos

  1. Open the original video.

  2. Click the Settings icon, then open the Video languages tab.

  3. Click Add language and add the translated video.

Notes

Note: Translated videos can only be added from the original video.

Remove a translated video

  1. Open the original video.

  2. Click the Settings icon, then open the Video languages tab.

  3. Click the Delete icon next to the language version you want to remove.

  4. Confirm the action.

NotesNote: You can add or remove translated videos only from the original video. If you open a translated video, you'll be directed to the original video to manage its language versions.

Learner experience

When a course video has multiple language versions, learners will see an Also available in section below the video player. Selecting a language immediately switches the lesson to the corresponding translated video while keeping learners in the same lesson.
