Spotlight #9: Use polls for a better understanding of your attendees

Hello Trainers,

This month's spotlight is on Polls.

In any session, engaging your attendees and understanding their needs and preferences are paramount to conduct the session successfully. You can use the Polls feature to initiate conversations, gain insights, and keep your training session engaging.

What are polls?

A poll is an interactive method to assess your attendees' views, knowledge, and perception of a topic.

Let's consider this scenario. Audrey, a trainer, is conducting an online live session on marketing. Before beginning the session, she launches a poll to break the ice and gauge her attendees' knowledge of the subject. This will help Audrey make them feel at ease.

Later in the session, just before she starts to teach the strategies of inbound marketing, Audrey raises another poll asking her attendees if they need a quick introduction to what inbound marketing is, with a yes or no option. Based on the poll result, she can decide accordingly.

When the session is about to end, she might want to know her attendees' thoughts on what topics to cover in the upcoming session. With a quick poll, she can collect their opinions and plan her sessions.

Here, we can see how hosting polls can help trainers like Audrey keep their audience engaged throughout their session.

How do you launch a poll?

Polls are customizable. They can be multiple choice questions, textboxes, or ratings. They can be created before the session in the Resources tab and Polls library.

Once they’re created, the polls can be initiated in the live session. You can also create an instant poll midway during the session.

How do you analyze the results of a poll?

After the session ends, you can view a comprehensive and consolidated analysis of all of your poll results under the Analytics tab. Furthermore, you can obtain a detailed report for each separate poll. This will give you a clear understanding of the choices each learner made.

With polls, you can entice attendees to actively engage in your session. This will encourage them to be more involved in the learning process.
